Egis’ experience and know-how put into action.
Egis is one of the main players in water in Africa. Our teams have been working for the past 60 years alongside African nations to ensure that drinking water, sanitation and energy can become available to all.
We began this project as part of a FASEP operation (a French government subsidy to finance feasibility studies), and since 2016 we have been providing project management consultancy services to the Côte d’Ivoire Ministry of Economic Infrastructure. Under the terms of our mission, we had to adapt and update the design and works programme.
Master plan
To do so, we drew up a simplified master plan and produced a comprehensive calculation of the medium and long-term future production including: the measurement of the surface resource in Gagnoa, an analysis of boreholes and calculation of water demand, the verification or sizing of the supply network, the definition and positioning of the main structures, the design of the distribution networks, the definition of the first-phase works, and social, environmental and economic impact studies.
Preliminary designs
Egis also produced the preliminary designs, notably the preliminary studies for the Zambakro-Sinfra-Gagnoa production and supply network (120 km) and the first-phase reservoirs, and the detailed designs of the distribution mains (100 km). Our experts were more specifically a driving force in recommending individual connections in the supply network.
Compilation of tender requirements
We then advised the client in drawing up the invitations to tender for the construction of first-phase storage basins, for the distribution network works and for the supervision of these works.
Supervision
Finally, we supervised the design and implementation of the first-phase reservoirs, checked the detailed design studies and oversaw the works supervision for the other structures..
