A large-scale development program.
More than a simple flood protection project, the Isère project concerns the development of the territory, taking into account the environmental, agricultural and landscape aspects as well as the recreational activities linked to the river, enhancing the local river heritage.
From the river bed to the banks, the development work is of various kinds: clearing, leveling of banks, consolidation and installation of watertight walls, close protection of houses, environmental and landscape development...
Egis at the helm
Egis is in charge of these multiple projects and is doing its utmost to reduce the risk of flooding in the Isère plain, which is very real due to the persistence of major floods and the risks associated with dyke failures.
We are primarily working in urbanized areas with high socio-economic stakes, as well as in those subject to a high frequency of flooding. But in the long term, we are developing a protection system for the entire valley, commune by commune.
Securing, restoring, embellishing
The project includes several key stages. For the hydraulic works, this ranges from the cleaning of the minor bed and the reinforcement of the dykes, to the installation of controlled flooding fields, to the realization of civil engineering works of crossing and of works of close protection of dwellings and of water catchments.
In the area of natural environment enhancement, we carry out reforestation and reconstitute ecological corridors essential to biodiversity. We are also redeveloping the river's secondary branches and gravel pits.
Finally, landscaping and leisure facilities are also carried out, such as green and blue stops, access to the dykes, parking lots and ornamental plantations.
Responsible construction sites
The project is part of a strong sustainable development approach and ensures that the various construction sites are carried out in an environmentally responsible manner:
by limiting transport distances (reduction of CO2 emissions),
- by recovering the felling products of the site (outlets in the wood energy or timber industry)
- by recovering and recycling the spoil from the site
- by respecting protected species (adaptation of work periods and techniques)
- by fighting against invasive species during and after the construction site.
These missions ensure the smooth running of the project, while taking into account and preventing environmental risks.
