Aval du Futur: A Landmark Industrial Project for the Fuel Cycle
Egis is partnering with Orano to ensure the success of the Aval du Futur project. This project calls for the construction, at the Orano La Hague site, of:
- an underwater unloading and storage facility, featuring three pools each with a capacity of 6,500 tons to meet the needs of EDF and international customers;
- spent fuel processing facilities with a capacity equivalent to current levels, i.e., 1,200 tons of fuel processed annually;
- a MOX fuel fabrication facility with a capacity equivalent to that of the Melox plant in the Gard region.
These facilities will be commissioned gradually from 2038 onwards, enabling processing and recycling operations to continue beyond 2100.
At the same time, Egis is also involved in the Sustainability-Resilience program established to extend, maintain, and optimise the operation of Orano’s historic facilities in La Hague. This will ensure the continuity and performance of the plant.
